Chandigarh, April 26

The selection to the Haryana Civil Service (HCS) through nomination from revenue officers today came under the judicial scanner, with the Punjab and Haryana High Court issuing notice to the state on a petition challenging the new selection criteria.

The HC also directed the state against including the service experience of district revenue officers or tehsildars rendered as naib tehsildars for the purpose of selection. The direction came after the Bench heard senior advocate Narender Hooda on behalf of Arun Kumar and 10 others directly selected tehsildars working in the state. TNS
