Clerk booked for embezzlement

Chandigarh: A clerk posted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office was booked for allegedly not depositing over Rs 1.13 lakh in the Arms Branch account.

A clerk posted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office was booked for allegedly not depositing over Rs 1.13 lakh in the Arms Branch account.

The police said according to the complaint of Ramesh Chander, accused Ajay Parkash was supposed to deposit Rs 1,13,280 collected from applicants in the account of Arms Branch, DC Office. However, he did not deposit the money and kept the same with himself.

Later, the discrepancy was found when records and bills were checked. Following this, an internal inquiry was initiated against him. He was found guilty in the inquiry. Thus, the complaint was given to the police.

A case under Section 409 (Criminal breach of trust) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 17 police station.
