CHANDIGARH: A habitual offender, reportedly a drug addict, was nabbed by the residents of Sector 23 and handed over to the police here today.

Chandigarh, February 3

A habitual offender, reportedly a drug addict, was nabbed by the residents of Sector 23 and handed over to the police here today.

The accused, Agwinder Singh, was caught red-handed while committing burglary at the house of Gurmukh Singh, principal, Government Model Senior Secondary School in Maloya.

The accused has been arrested for the fourth time for theft. SI Desh Raj, in charge of the Sector 22 police post said, “The accused was admitted to the GMSH-16. He’ll be arrested after he is discharged from the hospital”, he said.

A case under Sections 380, 451 and 454, IPC, has been lodged at the Sector 17 police station. The police recovered Rs 5, 000 along with a rod and a sharp-edged weapon from the accused. — TNS
