Man booked for wife’s murder

Phagwara: Balraj Singh allegedly murdered his wife Rajwinder Kaur with sharp-edged weapons at his house in Khuralpur village on Saturday evening.



Phagwara: Balraj Singh allegedly murdered his wife Rajwinder Kaur with sharp-edged weapons at his house in Khuralpur village on Saturday evening. The Mehatpur police have registered a case against him. The family of the deceased told the police that Rajwinder used to be tortured by her husband since her marriage in 2013. The brother of the deceased alleged that he himself saw the accused while he was beating and attacking his sister with sharp-edged weapons. The police are conducting raids to nab the accused. OC

3 booked for minor’s rape

Abohar: The city police have booked Inderjeet Singh of Kattianwali village and his two unidentified accomplices under Sections 363A, 376 IPC and 3, 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. A Jammu Basti-based minor girl (15) has alleged in her complaint that Inderjeet had kidnapped her from outside her house and took her to a private school on Malout road where the other two were waiting. They took her to a room on the first floor and raped her. The victim has been taken to a government hospital for medical examination. OC

Six villagers held under NDPS Act

Abohar: The police seized 34 kg of poppy husk when they intercepted Sukhwinder Kaur of Kamrewala, Chhinder Kaur and Jarnail Singh of Mahalam, Krishan Lal of Sappanwali and Subhash Chander of Malarampura village. They have been arrested under the NDPS Act. Sandeep Kumar of Amarpura village has been nabbed with 108 bottles of liquor. OC 

2 arrested with 25 boxes of liquor  

Sangrur: The Khanauri police arrested two persons on Saturday night and seized 25 boxes of liquor from their possession. The police have registered a  case and started investigations. A team of police during patrolling intercepted a Bolero near Andana village and confiscated 25 boxes. Satgur Singh and Raghuvir Singh were arrested. TNS
