Man held for sexually assaulting minor

Chandigarh: A Kajheri resident has been arrested for allegedly trying to sexually assault a minor girl. Sources said the accused, had been identified as Rahul. The accused tried to sexually assault a three-and-a- half-year-old girl. The victim’s parents lodged a complaint  following which a case  was registered. — TNS

Chargesheet filed against cop

Chandigarh: The CBI on Thursday filed a chargesheet against a UT police Head Constable, Raj Kumar, who wasarrested in a case of accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a Ram Darbar resident on Sunday evening. The accused was demanding the bribe from the complainant to let the latter off in an assault case.Anil Kumar in his complaint said Raj Kumar called him to deliver the money after the deal was struck for Rs. 5,000. Meanwhile, Anil Kumar approached the CBI and the agency’s sleuths laid a trap to arrest him recently.— TNS

Snatching bid

Chandigarh: A snatching bid was made with a woman at Kaimbwala village on Wednesday. 

The police said  complainant Shashikanta, a resident of Nayagaon,said  two motorcycle-borne miscreants tried to snatch her purse near a temple at Kaimbwala village. A  case has been registered.
