The police have booked Principal of Zevatika School, Barnala, Joy M Vergese under Sections 420, 406 and 120B of the IPC. He has been accused of duping a UK-based NRI Brij Lal of Rs 14,20,938.
The NRI, in his complaint lodged with the Satnampura police, has alleged that the accused (who was Principal of Sant Sarwan Dass Public School Hadiabad from 2004 to 2011) had asked him to invest a huge amount in Visarev Co to double his investment. He gave a cheque of Rs 17.95 Lakh from his NRI account, but surprisingly he was returned only Rs 3.72 lakh.
