Dehradun, January 9

The Doiwala police today arrested a teenage boy for allegedly killing a two-year-old girl.

According to information, the girl went missing under mysterious circumstances on January 7 following which her mother lodged a missing person report with the police. The missing girl's mother pointed the finger of suspicion at a boy, following which the police prepared the sketch of the accused.

The body of the girl was, however, recovered in the Song river the next day. The autopsy report confirmed the death due to strangulation.

A police team conducted raids at several places but they could not round up the accused. The boy was arrested near the Lacchiwala bridge, Doiwala, today.

He told the police during interrogation that he abducted the girl from her house to rape her but later killed her after he failed to accomplish it.

DGP BS Sidhu has announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the investigating team.
