New Delhi, February 12

Former DPCC president Subhash Chopra said the AAP government has failed to protect the livelihood and houses of the urban poor.

Addressing the media here today, Chopra said the AAP government in Delhi has not only failed to carry out development in unauthorised colonies, but has also failed to carry out in-situ projects for slum dwellers. Instead of giving license to five lakhs vendors, the government has removed 1.65 lakh vendors in their three-year rule.

He said three years had passed but not a single unauthorised colony had been regularised. The AAP government has meted out step-motherly treatment to the 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies, as no development works have been initiated in these areas.

Chopra said the AAP in its election manifesto of 2015 pledged to utilise 200 acres of vacant land for constructing houses for the weaker section. Despite the fact that land is already available, the government not bothered to construct a single dwelling unit for the poor.
