A four-year-old kidnapped boy was rescued timely before he could be harmed, said a police official.

Yesterday, the Police Control Room received a call regarding kidnapping of a child from Madhu Vihar.

The complainant told the police that the child was abducted by Shiv Kumar, a resident of Siwan, Bihar.

Kumar said he wanted to marry child's mother but she refused his proposal. Therefore to mount pressure, he kidnapped her child.

The DCP said the accused went to child’s house on the pretext of wishing Eid and when his mother went outside of the room, he kidnapped the child and ran away. He had planned to flee Kolkata but got arrested.
