The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi for inviting noted historian Prof. AG Noorani for a lecture on Shaheedi Diwas oragnised at the Legislative Assembly premises.

Responding to his attacks, the AAP leaders too countered, saying people have seen the “so-called” nationalist face of the BJP which anticipating its loss in the civic polls is trying to break its MLAs.

Raising the issue, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta today accused the Kejriwal-led party of supporting “anti-national” forces and went on to say the upcoming municipal corporation polls is not limited to local issues, but dubbed it as a fight between nationalist and anti-national forces.

Gupta, who attended the function on March 23, described Prof. Noorani as “pro-Pakistan” person who “favours” plebiscite in Kashmir.

“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia shared the dais with Prof. Noorani who had questioned the people’s mandate in favour of the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh polls and also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Gupta told the mediapersons here.

In the context of the Punjab Assembly elections, Gupta said Kejriwal was taught a lesson by the people of the state for being “seen with pro-Khalistan people”.

When asked about his reaction days after, he said it took him time to research about Prof. Noorani.

The professor had criticised the BJP for choosing Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and called on the people to respond to it.

Referring to the Prime Minister, Prof Noorani had said that “power goes to the head" of anyone who gets an absolute majority in elections and also accused the prime minister of indulging in “communal" politics.
