New Delhi, March 21
Hoping to invigorate his party’s prospects, Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be on ground from March 31 canvassing for AAP candidates for the municipal corporation polls at a time when Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get its top brass, including BJP national president Amit Shah and Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu, to address a rally of polling booth in-charges at Ramlila Maidan here on March 25.
The AAP is likely to finalise schedule of Kejriwal’s campaigning by tomorrow, a party source said while adding that he will be addressing as many as two-three dozen rallies in about 20 days across the Capital.
Along with Kejriwal, separate meetings in wards will be held by other leaders of AAP led by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who will also begin campaigning by the end of March.
“AK (Kejriwal) today gave his confirmation for campaigning of MCD candidates. He is expected to address two to three dozen meetings all over Delhi. These meetings will be ward-centric on the lines of his campaign in the Vidhan Sabha elections,” the AAP leader said.
AAP Delhi in-charge Ashish Talwar said, “While other parties are busy in internal squabbles, the AAP’s candidates, leaders and MLAs are already on the ground busy in campaigning. Once Arvind Kejriwal enters the campaign, the AAP ground campaign will go into top gear.”
The AAP realising well the challenge thrown by the Congress and the BJP especially after the recently concluded assembly elections in other states that the civic elections are not going to be a cakewalk for it anymore has already put party MLAs on the job to campaign for candidates to shore up its fortunes this polls.
