The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government today questioned the BJP-ledCentre’s decision to fell a whopping 17,000 trees in the national Capital as part of its redevelopment plan with party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj announcing that the AAP will agitate against any such move and launch a Chipko movement-like protest.
"The plan of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.... trees in Lutyens' Delhi to construct flats for politicians and bureaucrats," the AAP leader claimed.
Under the redevelopment, seven south Delhi colonies of Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Mohammadpur, Sriniwaspuri, Kasturba Nagar and Thyagaraj Nagar will be covered.
