Activists of the Left-backed AISA and the RSS-affiliated ABVP today allegedly clashed in Delhi University during counselling sessions on North Campus for undergraduate admissions

According to the AISA, its activists Dhanpal Singh, a student of Ramjas College, Rajeev Kumar from Shivaji College and Sujit Chandravanshi from Dept. of East Asian Studies, DU, were allegedly attacked by ABVP activist after an altercation—something denied by the latter group.

Both groups are understood to have filed cross complaints at the Maurice Nagar police station though no FIR was registered.

AISA member Sujit Chandra Banshi said trouble broke out when they were distributing pamphlets outside conference centre where Open House was underway.

“In the morning while I and my friend Rajeev were distributing pamphlets, we were hurled abuses by DUSU president Amit Tanwar and a group with him. They took our pamphlets and tore all down. They manhandled us and threatened to kill us,” said Dhanpal Singh.

However, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president and ABVP member Amit Tanwar rebutted all allegations claiming the three AISA activists teased a girl on campus when they caught hold of one and warned while others left the spot.
