Bawana: Cabinet nods to set up TSDF

NEW DELHI:The Cabinet today approved the setting up of Treatment Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) at Bawana for the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste generated combined effluent treatment plant (CETP) and industrial units located in industrial estates.

The Cabinet today approved the setting up of Treatment Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) at Bawana for the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste generated combined effluent treatment plant (CETP) and industrial units located in industrial estates.

In a meting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Cabinet also approved the engagement of Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) on nomination basis for third party audit of eight autonomous institutes/society hospitals, disbursement of the cost in three instalments i.e. 50 per cent amount of the study on commencement of work and another 30 per cent on submission of draft report and 20 per cent on submission of final report, the payment of fee shall be paid from grant in aid releases to Institute of Liver and Bellary Sciences (ILBS).

The Cabinet’s decision to nominate the IIPA as the third party auditor is in line with the directions of the High Court in Writ Petition (C) 9350/2014 titled Ramesh Chandra versus Union of India and Others is subject to LG Anil Baijal’s approval.

The hospitals to be covered under the plan are Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi State Cancer Institute, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitalaya, Chaudhary Braham Prakash Ayurvedic Aveum Charak Sansthan, Maulana Azad Institute Dental Sciences, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, besides the ILBS.

The facility will provide for treatment and storage facility for domestic hazardours waste as per provisions of solid based management rules 2016.
