BJP MLA, RTI activist sniff massive scam

RTI activist Vivek Garg and BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma today submitted a complaint to the Anti Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government asking for an FIR against the PWD Minister, Satyendra Jain, officials concerned and contractors for alleged misappropriation of approximately Rs 15 crore of the government fund spent for dismantling the BRT corridor from Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand.

The corridor from Ambedkar Nagar to Delhi Gate was a major project of the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government for providing a separate lane to the bus in which the movement of other vehicles was not allowed. The government had constructed the corridor though there was opposition from various sections of society. 

"A pre-planned conspiracy was hatched by the minister, officers and contractors to misappropriate the government fund that requires an investigation. The minister and officers allegedly abused their official positions and influenced the contractors to obtain wrongful gains," the letter said. 

The government paid money to contractors for dismantling the corridor. The waste iron worth crores of rupees collected after the dismantling was given to the contractors, it said. 

Though the PWD, responding to an RTI said that Rs 3.15 crore was spent for dismantling the corridor, a document attached with the complaint letter showed that more than Rs 10.97 crore was spent for dismantling work.
