The Traffic Police is going to install violation detection cameras in 24 major crossing points in the city. The main feature the system is to keep an eye on the violations like jumping of red light, stop line crossing and over speeding The cameras will take the picture along with the number plate and will also make the video of the vehicles.
Tender of the plan has been issued and by the next month the plan is expected to start.
By the help of the camera the photo and video of retro and non-retro reflective number plates could be made. Cameras on the crossings will be installed by different angles. One camera will take photo of the number plate while the other two at the same time will make the video of red light and stop line crossing, said Garima Bhatnagar Joint Commissioner of Traffic Police.
In case of violation of traffic rules in a line by two drivers, that will also be recorded at the same time. These cameras have the capacity to take the photo from the distance of 50 meters. If in one lane two vehicles are running in over speed together, separate photos of both the vehicles will be captured, added the Joint CP Traffic Police.
