Yesterday a fight took place in the Safdarjung Police Station (South District) between an assistant sub inspector (ASI) and head constable deployed in Green Park Sub Division regarding distribution of bribe money.
Both personnel received sever injuries. Situation aggravated so much that it went beyond control and officials present in the police station have to call the PCR.
Both were taken to Safdurjung hospital. Thereafter, both the officials were transferred to South Delhi District Police Lines, although the police did not register case.
The incident has exposed the police department. This incident is the proof certifying the level of corruption persisting in the police department, moreover, if sources are to be believed, the higher officials of the police station have not been given the information of the incident to Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and Special Commissioner Law and Order South P Kamraj.
The name of the ASI involved in fighting is Rampal and the head constable is Shyam Sunder. Both were deployed in the Safdarjung Police Station for many years. The SHO had placed both the policemen in the biggest sub division, Green Park beat.
On Saturday night when they both reached the police station after patrolling Green Park they picked up quarrel regarding the beat money distribution.
After heated argument, both personnel started thrashing each other. They tore each others’ uniforms apart. Both had beaten each other severely in the police station premises, but initially other policemen remained mere spectators. When they started bleeding, some policemen came in between and tried to pacify them. An official called the PCR which took both of them to Safdarjung hospital and got their medical done. The SHO did not take action against any of them.
