The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) today said that it has decided to defer 'demolition programmes' and any such action would take place "after the winter season" in the wake of the unfortunate incident during the demolition drive carried out by another agency.

Around 106 acres of land falling in the environmentally-sensitive Yamuna Flood Zone have been cleared of encroachment during a series of demolition drives conducted recently, the DDA stated.

The action under the demolition programmes carried out on November 26-27, December 1 and December 9 was taken as per the norms outlined by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), DDA said in a statement.

As per the DDA, the land included four villages-Chiragh Zanubhi, Bela, Inderpat and Chiragh Somali- was temporarily leased for five years for grass-cutting and grazing to the two societies.
