CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday directed suspension of the “erring” officials after discrepancies were found over desilting of drains in official reports submitted by the PWD and the actual situation on the ground in the city.
No laxity will be tolerated on such important issues concerning public health, Kejriwal warned officials.
Kejriwal, who this evening was on a site inspection of the desilting of drains at three locations in Ambedkar Nagar, found that despite official paper reports of drains having been 100 per cent desilted they were seen to be “choked”. “Even the locals at the spot complained to the CM that no desiliting work had been carried out,” said an official.
During the inspections at MB Road, Khanpur (Pipal Chowk), Valmiki Mandir Marg and Rajaram Marg near the BRT Road, Kejriwal was accompanied by the Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and senior officials of the PWD and district administration. The area’s MLA Ajay Dutt also accompanied the team during the inspection. — TNS
