New Delhi, May 23
A survey report of the United Nations (UN) forced the DSGMC to organise five days summer camps in 12 branches of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools to teach youngsters Sikhism and asking parents to have conversation in Punjabi with their wards.
A senior official of the DSGMC said the UN survey report said that in future 4,000 world languages will be finished and Punjabi is one of them.
The DSGMC general secretary, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said keeping in view the weather conditions the timings of the camps have been scheduled for first half of the day from 7.30 am to noon. He said camps have been started on May 21 in 12 branches of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools in which students will be given proper teaching on turban tying, correct reading, understanding and recitation of Gurbani, knowledge regarding panj kakkars, value of turban tying and in addition gatka, painting, singing, etc., will also be part of the camps. — TNS
