New Delhi, June 17
The police arrested two persons who uploaded a girl's photograph on a dating app, said DCP Chinmoy Biswal.
The accused have been identified as Chiranjeev (26) and his female accomplice Poonam (19) (name changed). Five mobile phones and 11 SIM cards have been seized from their possession.
The victim found her photograph on the app and found that it was uploaded by some unknown person to solicit people for friendship, he said.
She contacted the accused through Whatsapp and mobile call and asked them to delete her photograph, but they denied doing so, the DCP said.
Thereafter, she filed a complaint at the Amar Colony Police Station.
During investigation a bank account on the name of Aditya Verma, a resident of Budh Vihar, at IDBI Nilothi Branch was found. Permanent address of the account holder was mentioned was of Lucknow. Both the addresses were verified and were found fake. On the basis of technical surveillance, alleged person was zeroed in, he said.
It was revealed that actual name of the accused is Chiranjeev, who was operating with forged account and mobile SIMs procured through fake IDs. He was arrested and on his instance Poonam was nabbed. — TNS
