On the intervening night of July 21 and 22, four minor girls ran away from a shelter home, “Prayas”, from Ambedkar Nagar, said a police official.
According to the police, one girl is a native of Hardoi District in UP. She was recovered from the New Delhi Railway Station and sent back to the shelter home as per the order of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Other girl is from Gaya, Bihar, and was found in Jaitpur and remaining two are residents of Delhi.
As both these girls had refused to go with their family members after their recovery, the CWC had directed the police to send them to the shelter home.
Three of them had sustained injury while scaling the wall of the shelter home with the help of a “dupatta”. These girls have been got treated at AIIMS Trauma Center for their injuries, said the official.
However, one of them is still admitted to AIIMS Trauma Center whereas other two have returned back to the shelter home. One girl is missing and a case has been registered in this regard on the complaint received from officials of the shelter home, according to DCP Romila Banniya (Southeast District).
