Half marathon for women cause on Dec 17

NEW DELHI:Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister, will flag off half marathon, "RUN for LAADLI” organized by NGO Laadli Foundation in association with Delhi Police to spread awareness about gender equality and educate people to stop crime against women.

Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister, will flag off half marathon, "RUN for LAADLI” organized by NGO Laadli Foundation in association with Delhi Police to spread awareness about gender equality and educate people to stop crime against women.

The idea of this half marathon is to save uneducated girls from exploitation and sexual abuse and to enhance the quality of the life of women, especially unprivileged ones living in slums.

About 10,000 participants, including professional runners, MNC employees, students from vocation college and universities will run for the cause.

The event will bring together young boys and girls who can enrol themselves under YUVA Scheme for employment and skill training and will pledge to raise their voice to stop domestic violence and other crimes against women.

All the participants will be given Participation Medal named ‘Laadli Rakshak’ (Laadli Savior) as souvenir to encourage them for the cause and motivate them to change their mindset. The run will be in three categories 21 km, 11 km and 5 km and 15 successful finishers in each category shall be given prize money with a trophy and online certificates. The first prize for 21 km run will be Rs 1 lakh.
