Hussain wants inspections in onion markets

NEW DELHI:Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain has directed the department to conduct surprise inspections in major wholesale and retail markets to check hoarding of onions and then send daily reports for his perusal.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain has directed the department to conduct surprise inspections in major wholesale and retail markets to check hoarding of onions and then send daily reports for his perusal.

Hussain has expressed concern regarding rising retail prices of onions saying in such a scenario, the possibility of hoarding cannot be ruled out.

The minister has directed the department to carry out intense inspections of wholesale markets such as Azadpur Mandi, Okhla Mandi, Ghazipur Mandi, Keshopur Mandi, etc. The minister also directed inspection of retail markets in different parts of Delhi as well.

He directed to constitute teams of officers from Market Intelligence Cell and circle offices of the Food and Civil Supplies Department who will visit these markets daily.
