NEW DELHI:The police have arrested Ajay (20), a resident of Jaipur, and rescued a kidnapped 14-year-old girl, said a police official.

New Delhi, February 21

The police have arrested Ajay (20), a resident of Jaipur, and rescued a kidnapped 14-year-old girl, said a police official.

On February 19, the missing of a minor girl was reported at the Prasad Nagar police station upon which a case of kidnapping was registered, he said.

There was no clue in the case and the victim was not carrying any mobile phone.

The footage of CCTV cameras of the area near the house of the victim was checked and one of the footage led the police to suspect Ajay who worked nearby and was also found missing since the incident, the official said.

A police team was dispatched to his native place in Jaipur where the suspect was found at his house. But there was no clue about the victim, he said.

The movements of Ajay were verified and some contradictions were noticed in his version to which he was confronted.

On initial interrogation, he tried to mislead police and showed his ignorance about the victim but when he was subjected to sustained interrogation, he broke down and at his instance, the victim was recovered from a rented room in the adjoining locality of his native village, said the DCP (Central). – TNS
