New Delhi, August 19

The police today found bodies of a mother and a daughter from bogies of a train stationed at Shahdara Railway Station here.

The deceased have been identified as Maya (55) and her daughter Nishu (34), both residents of Bulandshahr, according to the police.

A case has been registered  and investigation is underway, said a senior police official.

The bodies were found in two coaches of Mahananda Express plying between Delhi and Alipurduar (West Bengal). The train had been stationed at Shahdara due to disrupted rail traffic caused by floods in Bihar.

A pantry car manager found one of the bodies yesterday. He alerted GRP personnel who found the other body in a different coach of the train, the official said.

"The bodies have been sent for postmortem. The exact cause of death will be determined through autopsy report," said the official.

The identity of the mother-daughter duo was ascertained through a paper slip found from the victims. The address of Yakubur Village in Bulandshahar was scribbled on it, said the official.

Maya belonged to Mathura and her daughter Nishu was married to Pushpendra of Yakubpur in Bulandshhar. The mother, a widow, lived with the family of her son-in-law in Yakubpur, the official said.

The victims had disappeared from Yakubpur under mysterious circumstances on August 16. A missing complaint was filed by Nishu's father-in-law at a police station in Bulandshahar, the official added.
