A wall of an under-construction building collapsed at South Delhi's Greater Kailash, killing one person and injuring five. The incident took place today afternoon and Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials received a call at 12.10 pm, said DCP Romil Banniya.
As per DFS, three fire tenders were sent to the spot. Six were injured and taken to the AIIMS Trauma Center, where one of the persons, Satish (42) succumbed to his injures while the others are currently undergoing treatment.
Police has registered an FIR in CR Park police station regarding the incident and taken builder Nitin Verma and his father who is the contractor for questioning the safety measures taken at the construction site.
DCP Romil Banniya said, at E-583 Greater Kailash-II, basement construction was going on. In the morning, suddenly the area which was dug further caved-in, during which labours working in the basement got buried inside. After getting the information DFS and local police were alerted on whose efforts buried labourers were taken out and admitted to AIIMS Trauma center, he said.
The five injured have been identified as Narayan (48), Durga Manji (38), Kapil (27), Ram Swaroop (50) and Ravi Mishra (35). Their statements have not been taken yet. Satish's family has been informed about his death and his body will be handed over to them after the post-mortem is done, DCP added.
