Police organises passing out parade

NEW DELHI: A combined Passing Out Parade of 35 Recruit Constables (Drivers) and 7 Assistant Wireless Operators along with 57 Warders of Delhi Prisons was held at Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan, Delhi.

A combined Passing Out Parade of 35 Recruit Constables (Drivers) and 7 Assistant Wireless Operators along with 57 Warders of Delhi Prisons was held at Police Training College, Jharoda Kalan, Delhi.

They took the oath of allegiance in a ceremonial parade after successfully completing their basic training. Kannan Jegadesan, Joint Commissioner of Police (Training), the chief guest, took the salute of the marching contingents.

Parmaditya, Principal of Police Training College, other officers and faculty of the college and family members of passing out trainees were present on the occasion.

The trainees have been imparted extensive practical training on driving simulators and actual vehicles. This includes driving of all class of vehicles and maintenance. In addition, they also have been taught basic policing, elementary knowledge of law and use of weapons.

Stress has been laid on the Motor Vehicle Act, rules and traffic signage and road discipline. Police personnel of communication unit were trained to use the latest communication equipment with perfection, said Parmaditya.

The trainees of Delhi Prisons have been given inputs on acts relating to prison and prisoners, human behavior, jail manual and prison administration. All the trainees have been made to go through hard physical training to cope with the rigours police work.

The Joint Commissioner of Police complimented the trainees and hoped that they would feel proud to be a part of this esteemed force and will continuously strive to bring laurels to the department by working sincerely and honestly.

And further advised the police and jail officials to be sensitive to women and weaker sections of society and protect their rights. Addressing the trainees he advised them to remain aware of the changing scenarios of jails being more of a correction facility than punitive ones.

The need of the hour is reformation and rehabilitation of the inmates. Therefore, mindset needs to be changed to remain focused on bringing about a positive change in the prisoners.
