New Delhi, January 29

The All India Students Association (AISA) in Delhi held a protest at the University Grants Commission headquarters against its new Draft Guidelines on the Reservation Policy. They alleged that the Chapter 10 of the said policy includes provisions for "de-reservation" of reserved seats in Central Universities.

Ranvijay from AISA, JNU, said, “The constant need felt by Mamidala Jagadish Kumar to ruin inclusiveness in education institutions is alarming for the democratic spirit of India. This notice will not be tolerated by the students and the clause must be deleted.”

A student-led delegation also met the UGC Secretary. They said the Secretary accepted the suggestions, however, no concrete assurance was given. The draft and suggestions will be sent to the expert committee, a student said.
