If assurances of Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal to the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) are to be believed, security guards and supervisors of private companies would be allowed to travel free in public buses in the capital.
CM Kejriwal has assured that soon he will call a meeting of officials of the city government’s Home Department so to consider amendments in the Delhi Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, said CAPSI Chairman Kunwar Vikram Singh.
“CM Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the proposal of CAPSI to allow security guards and supervisors to travel free in public buses in Delhi,” read a statement issued by CAPSI here.
“This concession shall be given to those security guards in uniform while going and coming from the places of their duty only. These security guards while commuting, shall act as eyes and ears of the Delhi government and ensure that women and children are not harassed in any manner by co-passengers. They will immediately inform the police if any such is committed,” it added.
Each security guard shall be given a special badge so that public recognise him/ her as protector of citizens. Presence of a security guard in the public transport will create a sense of security among commuters and deterrent for anti-social elements.
“CM wanted us to organise security training to students of the 12th class in all schools. The Delhi government will sign an MoU to commence these programmes at the earliest. The government will also launch the publicity campaign to popularise its partnership with CAPSI for Yatri Suraksha,” said Singh.
“We told him that none of the Delhi policemen pay for travelling in buses and similarly, this special concession can be given to security guards,” he noted.
