PWD Minister orders agencies to be monsoon-ready

NEW DELHI:Taking stock of the monsoon preparedness in the national Capital, Public Works Development (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain have issued necessary directions to ensure that system is put in place for desilting of drains in the agencies by June 7.

Taking stock of the monsoon preparedness in the national Capital, Public Works Development (PWD) Minister Satyendar Jain have issued necessary directions to ensure that system is put in place for desilting of drains in the agencies by June 7.

A call centre for receiving complaints of waterlogging will be made operational from June 15 onwards and helpline toll free number 1800118595 be made 24x7 hours functional, said Jain who chaired a meeting attended by officials of the municipal corporations, Delhi Development Authority (DDA), city government’s Flood and Irrigation department, Delhi Jal Board besides PWD.

All agencies assured the minister that they are working to meet the deadline for preparedness, said an official while adding that a total number of 1447 pumps (fixed 637 and movable 810) will be available for use by different agencies as told by the PWD.
