In the wake of recent spate of fire accidents in the city, Labour Minister Gopal Rai today convened a sensitisation and a review meeting of fire safety measures in place in the five industrial areas of the national Capital.

Rai stressed the need for training of personnel in fire and keeping the passages of the buildings clear for free movement at a time when there have been several instances when narrow and congested lanes in many parts of the city have delayed the rescue operations.

Rai also underlined the crucial role and responsibility of various stakeholding departments i.e. DFS, MCD, labour, DSIIDC, DDA, disaster management, etc., in tackling any emergency effectively.

The meeting was attended by Secretary-cum-Commissioner (Labour) and team of officers of the department, besides representatives of industrial employers of Naraina Industrial Area, Mayapuri, Okhla, Udyog Nagar and Bawana.
