Shanti Bhushan predicts pre-term assembly polls

In a convention of Swaraj India volunteers, veteran Shanti Bhushan said irrespective of the tomorrow’s results for the April 23 municipal corporation elections the Swaraj India will emerge as a party with resilience while predicting an early Delhi Assembly elections this year.

The Swaraj India architects today asserted that the goal of the debutant political party is not “winning” elections but raising issues that matter to people and ushering in “an alternative model” of politics.

At the convention, which was addressed by senior party leaders, including its president Yogendra Yadav, lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Shanti Bhushan, general secretary Ajit Jha,candidates, including those whose nomination papers were rejected ahead of the elections of the three MCDs were felicitated.

The politics of Swaraj India’s soldiers is not limited to elections alone, but their work will be to raise pro-people issues throughout the year, said Prashant Bhushan, national convener of the Swaraj Abhiyan, whose political outfit is Swaraj India.

“This MCD elections were like a tough task for the party at a time with party never relied on using money from corrupt sources for big advertisements and campaigns,” said Yadav in a dig at the major three political challengers in the high-stakes municipal polls.

Leaders made of mention of how the ruling party in the national capital tried to create obstacles for the party to keep it out of the electoral race, but despite the adverse circumstances candidates of the Swaraj India fought the elections.
