New Delhi, August 4
BJP president Manoj Tiwari today met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal seeking his attention towards the proposed hike in power tariff in connivance with the government and private power distribution companies.
Highlighting the alleged irregularities of private power distribution companies, Tiwari said that the Lt. Governor should exercise his powers under Section 108 of Delhi Electricity Act, 2003 and direct Delhi Electricity Regulation Commission (DERC) to re-invite objections and hold public hearing afresh on the proposed multi-year tariff and return of equity (ROE).
He informed the Lt. Governor that the business regulation plan formulated with the connivance of Kejriwal government and private companies is not only against public interest but is not in conformity with the law.
Tiwari said during the period 2002-2007, bank loan interest rates were around 15 per cent while ROE was 16 per cent. Now in 2017, bank loan interest rates have fallen to six per cent but due to connivance with the government, the private companies are still getting ROE of 14 per cent, he said.
