New Delhi, April 25

The Southeast District police has succeed in tracing a girl who was trafficked from Assam in 2012 by manpower touts. When she was only 16 years old she was further sold to agents in Delhi and was subjected to work as forced domestic help in Ludhiana and Delhi, said a police official.

A reward of Rs 50,000 was also declared by the Delhi Police Commissioner to trace the girl.

In January 2014, Sheela (name changed), a resident of Assam, approached an NGO, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, in Delhi and reported that in 2012 her daughter Pooja (name changed), who was 16 years old in 2012, has been kidnapped from her native place by one manpower supply agent, Deepak, and she was further sold to Jacob Deep, who runs a placement agency in the name of AA House Keeping and Office Staff Providers at Taimur Nagar, the official said.

Girl’s father also came to Delhi in search of the girl but he was also detained by the alleged traffickers at their office in Taimur Nagar.

Meanwhile, the police and NGO conducted raids at the given address at Taimur Nagar. Mangal Munda (father of the girl), who was held captive by the accused, was rescued from the said premises, but the girl was not found, he added.

During investigation, Jacob Deep was arrested and Deepak was declared proclaimed offender.

Local sources were deployed and teams raided all the possible hideouts in different parts of the country such as Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Assam and Delhi to get the clue about the missing girl. Secret sources were also deployed and Jacob Deep was examined again and again.

On the basis of the information it was revealed that the girl is working as a domestic help in Shalimar Bagh. And after concrete development, a raid was conducted at Shalimar Bagh and the girl was successfully rescued, said DCP Chinmoy Biswal.
