New Delhi, October 16

All great art starts from a simple drawing. The extraordinary skill and sureness with which it is executed, the brisk and irreversible mark of the pen or pencil, the instinctive selection of the few essential lines and the dependence on rhythm instead of structure constitute some of the charms of drawings by great masters.

To celebrate the art of drawings, Dhoomimal.com has put up ‘Pure Concept’, a group show of nearly 60 drawings by 28 eminent Indian artists at Rabindra Bhavan, Lalit Kala Akademi, here.

On display are works of master artists like Akbar Padamsee, Anupam Sud, Arpana Caur,  et al.

Pure Concept showcases some excellent samples of impactful drawings, each work a collector’s item. Akbar Padamsee’s faces and Arpana Caur’s forms embody minimal qualities, subtle and remote. Satish Gujral’s works on the other hand are bold and good examples of the moulded form as are Thota Vaikuntam’s women portraits.
