The Haroli unit of the BJP today staged a protest in front of the office of the Deputy Director of Higher Education, alleging that while the examinations for Classes X and XII being conducted by the State Education Board were under way, Haroli MLA and Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihoti was busy presiding over school annual functions in the area.

Led by Ram Kumar, who had contested the last Assembly elections on the BJP ticket from Haroli, party workers marched from the Circuit House to the Deputy Director’s office, raising slogans against the department and the minister.

Giving reference to letter number EDN-HE(21)B(15) 15/2016-V from the Director of Higher Education, Kumar said the communication directed school principals to ensure that the annual functions were held before 25 December every year.

He claimed that while examinations for Class XII began on 17 February and the practical examinations for Class X got under way today, the minister was forcing school principals to organise annual functions with him as the chief guest.

He further charged that recently school annual functions were also organised in the Haroli segment during gazetted holidays, including Guru Ravidas Jayanti. He said the BJP would be forced to take legal recourse if the Education Department continues to “flaunt official orders and politicise school functions”.

Zila Parishad member Lakhbir Lakhi and former Zila Parishad members Jagjit Mankotia and Satya Rana were also present on the occasion.
