Chandigarh, December 21

Vishal Kumar, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Raipur Khurd, won The Tribune Painting Competition—2014 held at Chitkara International School, Sector 25, here today.

The Tribune Group of Newspapers organised the event in association with Chitkara University. The event, which had “Christmas Party” as its theme, received around 400 entries from the tricity.

Prof Inderjeet Gupta, who retired from the Government College of Art; Prof Ravinder Sharma of the Government College of Art; and Niyati Chitkara, principal, Chitkara International School, judged the young talent.

Justice SS Sodhi, president, The Tribune Trust; Vinay Verma, General Manager, The Tribune Trust; and Madhu Chitkara, director, Chitkara International School, encouraged the participants.

MM Sabharwal, Joint Secretary (Home) and Director Public Relations, UT, awarded prizes to the winners.

While Vishal Kumar was awarded a Firefox cycle for his work of art, Garima Chaudhary (Kendriya Vidyalaya, 3BRD) won an HP tablet for bagging the second position. Aakash Gupta (Manav Mangal School, Panchkula), who was adjudged third, got a Sony Digital Camera, while Aniket Verma (Moti Ram Arya School) won a Sony PSP game for standing fourth in the competition. Rohit (Government High School, Sector 32-D), who clinched the fifth position, got a Titan Sporty watch.
