The Spinal Cord Injury Association (SCI) and Lovely Professional University (LPU) organised VISTAAR – the third rehablitation conference on the theme of “Can’t walk, let’s fly”. The event was a joint venture of Parvinder Singh Sonu, president, Dalwinder Singh, vice-president and Ashok Mittal, chancellor, LPU.
The motive of the conference was to serve as a comprehensive resource for patients, who had been affected by spinal cord injuries (SCIs) or those, who were working on them.
It included one to one interactions between patients and doctors from various specialised fields, who were related to rehabilitation in such cases. As many as 500 patients from all over India and overseas attended the conference.
Dr Sundeep Kaur, plastic and microvascular surgeon at a local hospital discussed various problems faced by SCI patients. She educated them on prevention of pressure sores. She also discussed wound care and problems related to it. Dr Sundeep guided them to use effective mattress and wheel chairs appropriate for such patients.
