Denied SLC, parents approach HRD Ministry, CBSE

PATIALA:After being allegedly denied the issuance of school leaving certificate (SLC) of their child on one pretext or another, the parents of a student of Ryan International School approached the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other authorities concerned.

After being allegedly denied the issuance of school leaving certificate (SLC) of their child on one pretext or another, the parents of a student of Ryan International School approached the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other authorities concerned.

Father Jasjeet Singh and mother Preeti Bhatia of Class IV student Anmoldeep Singh leveled allegations against the school authorities that they were demanding illegal charges of around Rs 7,000 for the issuance of school-leaving certificate. The parents have written a letter to the school Principal and marked the copies to the HRD Ministry, CBSE, Punjab Chief Minister, Patiala Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Patiala Child Development Project Officer.

Earlier, the Ryan International School Students Parents Association, Patiala, had also filed a court case regarding the “illegal” charges in the name of donations and other charges in the court of Sukhwinder Singh, Civil Judge (junior division), Patiala.

The couple has also sent a copy of the application to Judge Sukhwinder Singh. Anmoldeep’s father Jasjeet Singh said “When I visited the fee counter of the school on March 24, the fee clerk refused to issue the certificate. He asked me to pay Rs 7,065 on the account of development/annual charges, computer fee, and other charges, which are illegal under the affiliation bylaws of the

CBSE Board.”

He said “The court has also directed us to pay tuition fee and transportation fee only and the

management committee was directed not to interfere in the process of studies of children till

further orders.”

He said as the matter was pending with the court about the other charges, he also offered to give an undertaking as to comply with the court orders of final decision about the case.

Meanwhile, school Principal Pooja Sharma said “The matter is subjudice in the court and we cannot do anything before the court orders as it could become the contempt case.”
