Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, was adjudged the overall winner of the PU Inter-Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival that concluded here today.

Col Guljit Singh Chadha, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Col Guljit Singh Chadha said: “It does not matter that you are a winner, but participation in such competitions matter a lot, because it is a very challenging task. We have to think out-of-the-box to improve ourselves.”

PSEB chairperson Dr Tajinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board chairman Santa Singh Umedpuri and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Guru Khasi University, Talwandi Sabo, Jagpal Singh were the guests of honour.

Dr Dhaliwal, while addressing the students, appreciated the theme of the youth fest. While Santa Singh Umedpuri said co-curricular activities were an important part of one’s education and it helps in the overall development. Jagpal Singh encouraged the students that youth festival was a stage where one learns to compete in a professional manner. He shared his life experience with the students.

In the evening session, Hira Singh Gabria, former jail minister and chairman, planning board, Ludhiana, was the chief guest. Punjabi singers Babbu Maan and Harbhajan Singh were the guests of honour.
