Swami Vivekananda’s 154th birth anniversary was celebrated as National Youth Day at Devsadan here today.

Kullu SDM Rohit Rathore presided over the function organised by the Youth Services and Sports Department. He appealed to the youth to adopt positive attitude for the mental and intellectual development. He said drug abuse was the biggest enemy and they should refrain from drugs. He stated that serious thought had to be given to eradicate the drug menace.

Painting, essay-writing, group song and debate competitions were held. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Sanjay Sharma welcomed the chief guest and stated that winners of various contests would participate in the state-level competition in the youth festival.

Deputy Director, Higher Education, Jagdish, District Language Officers Promila Guleria, Dr Sitaram Thakur, Naval Kishore and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. — OC
