Mata Sarswati Pustakalaya – a library-cum-book bank and the All-India Kashmiri Samaj, organised a book-distribution function for students living in the Jagti migrant township on Wednesday.
Social activist King C Bharati was the chief guest while Hira Lal Bhat of the J&K Vichar Manch; Prof Indu Aima, educationist; Maharaj Krishan Koul, senior engineer (retd), BSNL and Ramesh Kumar Dhar, chairman of the book bank, were also present on the occasion.
During the first phase, the organisation aims to start free book loans for Classes IX, X, XI and XII which would lessen the burden of parents to a large extent as this chain system would not only bring more books to the library but also help other deserving students of the community.
