Plantation drive held at Govt Medical College

SRINAGAR: The MBBS students of Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, today carried out a plantation drive on the campus.

The MBBS students of Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, today carried out a plantation drive on the campus.

Inaugurating the drive, Dr Kaiser Ahmad, Principal and Dean, GMC, Srinagar, exhorted the students to be responsive to the environmental needs and changes while pursuing medical course aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the people.

Around hundred conifer saplings procured from the Social Forestry Department were sown under the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college, said a GMC statement issued here.

Head of Community Medicine Department, GMC, Dr Muhammad Salim Khan said, “Under the NSS programmes, we are exposing medical students to extra-curricular activities aimed at overall psycho-social development of medical students to face challenges beyond medical realms.”
