Protesting PAU students meet Tota Singh

LUDHIANA: The students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), who have been protesting since last month demanding filling of vacant posts in the varsity, met Agriculture Minister Tota Singh yesterday.

The students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), who have been protesting since last month demanding filling of vacant posts in the varsity, met Agriculture Minister Tota Singh yesterday.

The minister accepted their demand of changing the minimum qualification for recruitment of agriculture development officer (ADO).

Their demand of setting the minimum qualification for ADO as BSc, as it used to be few years back, was accepted whereas preference would be given to MSc. Recently, MSc was declared the minimum qualification.

Out of 934 posts of agriculture development officer, 600 are lying vacant.

Of the 174 posts of horticulture development officer 40 are lying vacant while 125 posts of soil and conservation officer are lying vacant against the total of 230 posts.
