The law faculty of Desh Bhagat University organised a guest lecture on ‘Ethics in Public Life and the Role of Lok Pal and Lok Ayukta’ to enhance the knowledge of the students.

Punjab Lokpal Justice SK Mittal (Retd) was the chief guest. Students of all law classes attended thelecture. University Chancellor Zora Singh welcomed the chief guest and other guests.

Mittal said India was the largest democracy in the world and the institutions of Lokayukta and Lokpal further strengthened it. He said for a corruption-free society, we had to take some bold steps.

He advocated that the press should be strong and free. Good governance, RTI, transparency, free press, etc, help in corruption, but morals and behaviour of an individual played an important role. The need of the hour was to take a pledge not to indulge in unlawful activities.

He congratulated the law students for choosing a challenging and noble profession. He inspired the students to work hard and to adopt a professional approach.

The lecture was followed by an interactive session. During the programme, a short play, a quiz contest and debate were also held.

Pro Chancellor Dr Tajinder Kaur thanked the chief guest and other guests for sparing time and sharing their views with the students.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Virinder Singh said such lectures added to the knowledge of the students and enhanced their self-confidence. Among others, Directors of different faculties and Law faculty members were present on the occasion.
