The executive council of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) today approved the annual budget of Rs 191.51 crore for the university for 2017-18. Despite an increase in the grant-in-aid from Rs 90 crore to Rs 100 crore, the uncovered deficit remained Rs 25.34 crore.
The income from domestic receipts increased marginally from Rs 62,46,61,628 to Rs 66,16,40,000 while the grant-in-aid from the government increased from Rs 90 crore to Rs 100 crore. Expenditure on salary increased from Rs 90.60 crore to Rs 105 crore while other charges will be Rs 86,51,12,000 against Rs 71,01,69,000 during 2016-17.
In its second regular meeting held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof ADN Bajpai, the council gave permission to college teachers for guiding PhD students, subject to eligibility as per the UGC guidelines.
The council also decided that henceforth online evaluation would be done for all undergraduate and postgraduate examination. Nod was given for the evaluation of sixth semester examination at the college level to expedite declaration of result of the outgoing semester as per the provisions under RUSA. The council also approved the absolute grading system for semester exams under RUSA.
It thanked the state government for accepting in principle a grant of Rs 8.19 crore for establishing Enterprises Resources Planning (ERP) System in the university.
The ERP system will strengthen the semester exam system, timely declaration of results besides pre-admission system, fee management, admissions and academics, hostel, mess management and placements.
