Varsity alumnus bags Japanese scholarship

SOLAN: Prashant Kandwal, a former engineering student of Shoolini University, has bagged the coveted Rs 50 lakh scholarship from the University of Tokyo for pursuing his doctorate.

Prashant Kandwal, a former engineering student of Shoolini University, has bagged the coveted Rs 50 lakh scholarship from the University of Tokyo for pursuing his doctorate.

A university spokesperson informed here today that Prashant would receive a fellowship of Rs 10.44 lakh per year for a period of five years and he had also been exempted from paying the tuition fee.

The University of Tokyo is one of the premier universities in the world and is ranked among the top 15 universities in the world. Prashant would work under Prof Toru Fujiwara in the Laboratory of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizers at the Department of Applied Biological Chemistry.

Kandwal, who hails from New Delhi, did his master’s in biotechnology from Shoolini University.

Vice-Chancellor Dr PK Khosla congratulated Prashant for his selection and bringing laurels to the university.
