Ludhiana: Malwa Central College of Education for Women, organised a seminar-cum-workshop on Benefits and Techniques of Yoga in Daily Life.



Ludhiana: Malwa Central College of Education for Women, organised a seminar-cum-workshop on Benefits and Techniques of Yoga in Daily Life. The motive of the programme was to orient the staff and pupils about the therapeutic value of yoga. Balvinder Acharya, Assistant Professor, Government College of Yoga Education, Chandigarh, in his lecture made the audience aware about the importance of realisation of self which leads to ultimate bliss and happiness in life. In the workshop session, Balvinder Acharya demonstrated various asanas and instructed students about correct postures.

Cleanliness camp

Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised a ‘Cleanliness and Serve with Love’ camp. In all, 30 volunteers participated in the camp, along with Principal RL Behl. The camp was organised to inculcate the habit of keeping environment clean among the students. An interaction with the volunteers of the Ek Noor Sewa Kendra was also organised. Ek Noor Sewa Kendra (ENSK) MD Gagandeep Kaur and volunteer Amarjeet Singh discussed the ENSK work and contribution to the society. The organisation is serving the needy and providing medical help to them in the Civil Hospital, Krishna Hospital, Oswal Cancer Hospital. They said the oraginsation has started ‘HUNAR’, a women-empowerment initiative, where girls are trained in skills for self-employment. The principal addressed the students and talked about the NSS motto ‘Not Me but You’. Prof Meenu Goyal said it was the duty of every volunteer to contribute to the society and dedicate time and resources for the social service.

NCC Camp

An NCC Combine Annual Training Camp was held at Malout last month. Cadets from Govt College for Girls won prizes in several activities. Principal Mohinder Kaur Grewal and NCC head Kamlesh Kaur congratulated the cadets for bringing laurels to the college. Under officer Anjali Mehta won a silver medal, cadet Komal won the gold medal in the firing competition, cadet Sarika and Arshdeep won the silver medal in the firing competition, cadet Anita won the gold in the debate competition, cadet Taranjeet Kaur won the gold medal in the solo-dance contest.

GNIMT organises inter-college competition

Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised Professor Gurbir Singh Memorial Professional Championship 2017 today. Inter-college managerial abilities competition comprising technical events like web page development, debugging, logo designing, power-point presentation, literary events like debate, what an idea, inspirational speech and fine arts events like poster making, collage making rangoli. As many as 300 students from sixteen colleges in and around participated in this event and it was started with shabad gayan by the students. The programme was aimed to pay tributes to Late Gurbir Singh Sarna, General Secretary of the institute and former Professor of Economics at GGNIMT, Ludhiana. Overall trophy was bagged by Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujrkhan Campus, Model Town.

National Science Day Celebrations

An amalgamation of various sectors of science was gathered to mark the celebrations of science day, organised by the Department of Sciences. The event was inaugurated by Principal, Dr Mukti Gil. A warm welcome was given with a dance performance A fancy dress competition was showcased in which science students showcased costumes like GSLV, Dish antenna, weeping earth, chickengunya virus, DNA model, unsung heroes of science, jellyfish, multimeter, digestive system, Konark Temple and Biofuels. Dr Baljinder Kaur and Dr Sunita Sharma were the judges for the event. Prabhjot Kaur grabbed first position for DNA model, second position was shared by Simerpreet Kaur for GSLV costume and Swati Grover for respiratory system and third position went onto the hands of Shruti Jain for Marine Animals and Tunisha Verma for Synthetic Leaf. Winners were awarded with merit certificates and trophies.

Dance competition

Master Tara Singh Memorial College for Women organised an inter-class dance competition. The competition began with the lighting of a lamp by Principal Kirandeep Kaur. Gurpreet Kaur, head of the dance department, presented ‘Sarswati Vandana’. Students from all classes presented their dance on classical, semi-classical and Bollywood songs. College Principal Kirandeep Kaur applauded the efforts of the dance department and congratulated the winners.—TNS
