The youth of India should have determination, courage and compassion to lead a life of honesty and good character and realise the value of their life as human beings.

Experts expressed these views at the National Youth Conference organised by the Sanskritic Chetna Parishad of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, and the Vivekanand Swadhyay Mandal of the varsity students on the 152nd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda today.

At the inaugural session of this two-day conference presided over by Pant varsity Vice-Chancellor Dr HS Dhami, intellectuals from different fields were present. These included Dr HC Verma, Professor, Department of Physics at IIT, Kanpur, noted Sufi singer Kailash Kher, Dr Chinmay Pandya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dev Sanskriti University, Haridwar, M Hanumantha Rao, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari and Dr Suchismita Sengupta Pandey, Joint Commissioner, Civil and Food Supply, Uttarakhand. The dignitaries present, while deliberating upon various facets of life of Swami Vivekananda, exhorted youth of different universities from all over India to have determination, courage and compassion to lead a life of honesty and good character, realising the value of their life as human being. They advised them not to have infinite desire for wealth and comfort but to serve the society and nation to uproot all the ills and evils and make the country a place of ideal living in the world. They appealed to them to make India a foremost nation of the globe again that will lead the world with the message of ‘Vasudhav Kutumbkum’ co-existing with the spiritual feeling of oneness with all.
